Hours of work: Two clinical sessions per week
Location: This role will be based remotely but the post holder will be expected to attend meetings at the College, 15 Hogan Place, Dublin 2, when required.

About CME
The CME (Continuous Medical Education) Network aims to develop and support excellent patient care in Irish General Practice through the delivery of continuous medical education, which promotes evidence based medicine with shared decision making, along with GP personal development and reflection.
Job Purpose
The role of the Assistant Academic Director is to ensure that the topics covered at CME meetings are relevant and meet the aims of the CME Network.
This will involve researching which topics need to be developed, assisting in the development of material and ensuring that the material is of the highest possible standard.
In addition, the Assistant National Academic Director will monitor feedback from the CME tutors and the CME members to ensure CME tutor Workshops and CME meetings are meeting the learning needs of participants.
The National Assistant Academic Director will be a member of the College Quality in Practice Committee.
Key results areas
Ensure each tutor is responsible for facilitating a minimum of three CME groups. These groups should be open to all GPs who meet the requirement for the College PCS and who are living or working in the catchment area of the tutor’s group.
Provide a syllabus for all the small groups in consultation with the participants, with the National Director and with other providers of CME within the faculties in the designated area.
Ensure tutors prepare meetings based on educational material which has been assessed at the national tutor workshop or on material that they have prepared themselves which promotes evidence-based medicine with shared decision making along with GP personal development. The topics covered should range from therapeutic and clinical skills to attitudinal meetings and management skills. The meetings should be in keeping with the vision and mission statement of the network and of the College Statement of Strategy.
Use assessment methods to evaluate the benefits of the programme to individual participants as part of the curriculum.
Adhere to the College Sponsorship policy in any dealings with sponsors / potential sponsors of educational events. As required, demonstrate adherence to the College sponsorship policy for CME small group meetings.
Ensure CME Tutors will adhere to all relevant policies and guidelines on the CME Tutor Network Scheme and of the College. This will include, but not limited to, participating in scheme visits, maintenance of records, attendance at workshops, submitting reports to National Director of CME and to the College as required and adherence to GDPR and related data policies and regulations.
Person Specification
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will:
Be a current member in good standing of the College.
Be enrolled on and in compliance with the Professional Competence Scheme.
Have current registration on the Specialist Register for General Practice, Irish Medical Council.
Concurrently hold a part time clinical appointment equivalent to a minimum of four sessions of clinical general practice per week.
Have at least six years satisfactory experience in the practice of the medical profession (post full registration) including not less than three years satisfactory experience in general practice in Ireland.
Will ideally have experience in postgraduate medical education, educational research and audit. (Academic qualifications in Medical Education will also be desirable.
Experience and knowledge of appropriate educational theory in respect Small Group Teaching and medical educational theory.
Demonstrate leadership and innovation in previous roles.
Must be a self - starter with high motivation and the ability to work flexibly on own initiative
